Hello Darlings!
If you read my resolutions blog post, you may remember that number three on my 2013 resolutions list is to take an extended trip abroad. Tinkerbelle, of course, will definitely be coming along for the adventure. My preliminary plan for the trip is to study yoga in a quaint village in England, and with that thought in mind, I started figuring out how to bring Tink without having to go through the ordeal of quarantine. The answer: the UK’s Pet Travel Scheme (PETS).

Tinkerbelle Post Microchipping, Not A Care In The World! |
Tink Anxiously waiting to go inside! |
The first step in this program is to get your pet microchipped.
Tink had her appointment with the vet yesterday morning where they painlessly
(yay!) inserted a Home Again Microchip between her shoulder blades. Tink
was in and out before I could even complete the paperwork! It was a grand total
of sixty-six dollars for the procedure, the microchip, and the Home Again
registration. This is a relatively small price to pay to both be able to
travel with your pooch and have the peace of mind that if your pet goes missing
and ends up at a shelter there’s a great chance that the microchip will lead to
a reunion!
Tinkerbelle, being the very spoiled puppy that she is, was
allowed a treat for being such a good dog at the vet’s office, and I couldn’t
think of a better place to find one than Green Dog Market just down the
street in Farmington, Connecticut. I had driven past the charming little
storefront numerous times but had never stopped in, silly me.
Green Dog Market's Cute Storefront |
The store is
chock full of green, healthy pet products and the resident golden retriever,
Chester. From food and treats to beds, toys, and grooming supplies, the store
had everything you would ever need as an eco-conscious pet owner. Ann, one half
of the couple that owns the store and the Green Dog Market webstore, and
Chester were welcoming and helpful and very obviously loved animals; Tinkerbelle loved them both right back.
Tink's Goodies! |
I ended up leaving with some Earthbath Totally Natural Pet Shampoo which smells heavenly- having Tink smell of rosemary will be fabulous!
The shampoo is all natural, animal cruelty free, and 100 percent biodegradable.
Tink, weaseled her way into not one, but two treats, a Braided Bully Stick
and a Bingo-Lo Buffalo Treat which was free with a purchase and your first in store FourSquare
check-in! You can check out Tink grabbing her Bully Stick on Green Dog
Market’s Instagram page or on their Twitter feed!
Chowing Down On A Bully Stick |
I was definitely going to go back for the high quality products; but when Ann mentioned that the store also had a customer rewards program it was another wonderful incentive!
Make sure you check them out on their Facebook page
as well for fun updates and pictures!
Note: I blogged about
Green Dog Market because I was thoroughly impressed, not because I was asked
to!
