Hello Darlings!
I am a very curious person. I absolutely adore people
watching, which is probably why I really enjoy watching vloggers on YouTube, a
bit of a guilty pleasure. One of my favorite types of videos is the ‘what’s in
my handbag’ tag, where vloggers, usually in the ‘beauty’ camp, empty out their
pocketbooks and show you what’s inside. I love that rather intimate peek into
someone else’s life, and thought it would be fun to share one of my own.
While packing for my trip to Vegas with the girls, I
realized that what was in my carry-on (my Michael Kors tote that my guy friends
call my suitcase) nearly perfectly reflected what I share here on Chickadee
Says. I always carry around my essentials, wallet, phone, sunglasses, glasses (which I
hate wearing so you will very rarely see me in them except to drive), and my
Nathan water bottle with a built in straw. When I travel I add a toothbrush,
magazine, and a book to the mix!
On a plane I am
lost without my Ice Chips, an awesome brand of mints that sweetens with Xylitol
instead of sugar, which is actually GOOD for your teeth (!), and a travel pack
of tissues. And because planes are so incredibly dry I carry my favorite YSL Sheer Candy Lip Balm (it is a bit pricey but SO worth it!).
I also carry a few of the things that I mentioned in my
Basic Holistic First Aid Kit post. I take an Inner Defense Capsule before the
flight and wear Thieves essential oil during the flight as a preventative
measure to boost my immune system and ward away sickness that is incubated in a
small space with lots of people. I always have a spray bottle of Rescue Remedy
on hand in case I need to get calmed down, and the little bottle of Freya is
another essential oil blend I use in lieu of perfume (my sensitive skin breaks
out in hives with most perfumes= those spritzer ladies in department stores are
awful!).
And of course being a blogger, I have a stack of my business
cards (which I need to update- yay for being a .com!), a notebook, and multiple pens. A few
Band-Aids are snuck into this picture because a dry plane means dry hands, and
I get more paper cuts than any human ever should.
Last but not least, food! Every healthy living blogger I
know brings snacks on the plane! I brought one container of a mix of veggie
chips, Inca corn (they are addicting- such a great crunch!), and Snap Pea Crisps, and another of trail mix made from dried fruit, plantain chips, cashews,
and a few types of seeds.
Two questions today: what are your traveling bag staples?
Also, do you like posts like this? I thought it might be fun to do some more ‘what’s
in my bag’ type posts! Let me know in the comments below!
