Hello Darlings!
I may have been a bit indulgent this holiday season. We’re
talking about making cookie dough, yep just cookie dough. To eat, not to bake.
Whoops. So, needless to say, 2014 brought on a bit of a very much so needed
detox. I thought it would be fun to share some of the recipes I’ve been using
to do just that!
I’ve been starting out each morning with a big cup of my DIY Herbal Detox Tea! Usually, I’m a fan of hot water with lemon, honey, and a
splash of apple cider vinegar, but for the New Year I decided to step up my
morning ritual and add herbs and ginger. I’ve been feeling really light after
having this tea every morning, I’m thinking this recipe will be staying around!
I followed my tea with a clean eating breakfast of fruit and
eggs scrambled with spinach and pepper. Boring but delicious!
Lunch was a huge portion of my Detox Salad! I am so glad
that I cut up a ginormous portion of toppings and that I made extra
lemon-garlic dressing- it is so easy just to pop my greens in a bowl and go!
Fail # 1: I totally forgot to photograph my dinner. But it
was a bunch of the veggies from this Instagram post, topped with a chicken
breast poached in herbs then sprinkled with chia seeds!
Detox fail #2: Dessert. I am not one of those people that
can have one square of a chocolate bar and be finished. Nope. I am the crazy
girl that takes bar to face and chomps. However, normally I don’t eat the
entire bar, but when you are rather engrossed in your Netflix choice and you look
down and the WHOLE thing is gone.. things happen. Whoops again! However, this
is my favorite chocolate bar, period. Which is rather odd knowing that in
general I prefer milk chocolate. But dark chocolate is full of antioxidants so it’s
a bit healthy? Right?!
Have you been trying to eat clean or detox this New Year?
