Hello Darlings!
Now I’m not usually a television watcher, but I have been
glued to my TV the past few weeks loving the Olympics! From the (insane) ski
jumpers to beautiful figure skaters there is something for everyone to love and
for children to aspire to be. Personally I am a huge hockey fan. I am from
generations of hockey players on my father’s side and my brother is a
phenomenal player, even going to far as to playing semi-professionally! So when
I saw that Julie Chu was teaming up with Citi Every Step of the Way program and
the USA Hockey Foundation to support Try Hockey for Free Days I was really
excited to share the word!
This post was created in partnership with Citi®. All thoughts and opinions are my own.I know that the gold metal game has already happened and [spoiler alert] the USA women’s team ended up with the silver medal, but I absolutely believe that the hype that surrounds the Olympics and the wonderful athletes that participate should extend throughout the year. Hockey can be expensive, but it can also be life changing. Finding your passion is no small feat, and Citi is helping to make that easier by donating $500,000 to the U.S. Olympic Committee to help the Every Step of the Way programs!
I love that Julie started out as a figure skater and grew to love hockey, working her way up the ranks, playing with the boys until she was 16 and then rocked the NCAA at Harvard with incredibly strong playing!
Julie grew up playing with the boys, now
she's playing with the girls and representing Team USA in the gold medal game.
Giving children who don’t have the means to purchase ice time and equipment the ability to try a sport that often seems rather inaccessible is such a wonderful opportunity. Citi’s Every Step of the Way program is doing just that!
Now, how to get involved? Visit the Citi Every Step of the Way website and read about the programs each athlete is promoting by clicking on their pictures! You can scroll through each athlete’s bio and learn more about the programs they are supporting. And don’t forget to vote for your favorite program!
9 #TeamUSA athletes. 9 programs in need. Help decide where @Citi's $500K donation goes! #everystep http://t.co/SpxvNUcYod #Citiptr
