Hello Darlings!
I love books, in any way shape or form. In my very small
apartment there is a very large bookcase chock full of all kinds of books from
ridiculous romance novels (give me a cowboy/prairie story any day) to
gorgeously bound books of Shakespeare, to foreign language novels I’ve picked
up on my travels just because they have that ‘old book’ smell I love so much.
And I have a very special place in my heart for cookbooks. I ADORE them, if
they could think they would probably hate me though because I am the messiest
cook on the planet and they constantly get covered in food (ask my poor canning
cookbook- the number of different kinds of berries mashed into its pages is
just silly.)
As I add to my cookbook collection I thought it would be super fun to share my new favorites, and first up is this wonderful cookbook by Lauri Boone, R.D Superfoods for Life, Chia!
I have been on a chia kick lately. I’ve been adding it to
salads, drinks, over chicken, in granola, and pretty much anywhere I can sneak
it in, so when I was offered a review copy of a cookbook that was exclusively
recipes including chia I was super excited! I’ve been working through the
recipes (there are 75!!) and have yet to try one I haven’t loved!
So far my favorite recipes are the Vanilla Chia Pudding,
which quite honestly looks incredibly scary- how I convinced myself to eat grey
mush I am not quite sure, and the Pomegranate and Green Tea Chia Fresca which, one, includes pomegranate juice which I love, and, two, is incredibly refreshing!
When I first glanced at the book I thought it was a straight
up cookbook but it also includes a bunch of DIY beauty recipes that are
amazing. I tried the Gentle Chia Facial Scrub and Cleanser that is made with
chia, honey, and coconut oil before bed and woke up with a face that is so
incredibly soft, moisturized, and free from those awful dry flakes that result
from the extremely dry Colorado weather. It am officially a chia-for-beauty
believer!
And it is not just the recipes I love. The book is
incredibly informative. From explaining chia’s nutrients to how it can help
digestion, weight loss, and diabetes, to spotlighting the health benefits of
specific amino acids present in chia, it really gives you an in-depth knowledge
base of how this superfood can be a great addition to your diet!
Do you have a favorite chia recipe? Let me know in the

I was provided with a copy of Superfoods for Life, Chia for
